What we set
When you accept the cookie notice, we store a single entry in your browser's local storage, called mk_cookie_ok, so the notice does not appear again. We also run a privacy-friendly reading counter on the guide pages that records an anonymous view, without setting a tracking cookie.
Why
The notice cookie exists only to keep the banner from interrupting your reading. The reading counter exists only so we know which guides are read to the end and which are not, so we can improve them. Neither is used to follow you across other sites or to show you advertising.
How to decline
You can decline by simply not accepting the banner; it will keep appearing, but no notice cookie is set. You can clear the notice cookie at any time through your browser settings, and the banner will return. The reading counter does not set a cookie and cannot be declined in the usual way, but it does not identify you.
